Contact Information & FTQ (Frequently Thought Questions)
- Are your images some of the same ones found in other website's stock image collections?
No. All of our photographs are unique (not mass produced) and are definitely not 'stock' caliber! Our images are privately owned
and are not kept nor traded in the public domain. See the Copyright section for further details about using a site that is under
Federal Copyright Protection.
- Who owns these images?
They are the property of Snapped From The Past, Inc. and its founding owners and officers.
- What is your philosophy on photo-editing of vintage photographs?
Less is more. Our goal is to amplify the original by the least possible means or change in image yet providing a satisfying
resolution for viewing by 21st century eyes. Occasionally some images seem to beg for a little extra stylistic effect namely
through cropping or colorization. However, we never superimpose a fictitious animal character into the middle of a photograph
when there was none there just because someone might think it was more marketable to see a cute monkey!
- How often are you adding new images to the Galleries?
Nearly daily so be sure to check back often!
- If I see a print in black and white that I would really prefer printed in sepia tone (or vice versa), can you provide it?
Email us with your request and the image number and we will attempt to place a print reflecting this change in that Gallery
(if quality permits) within 3 business days.
- I really wanted an 11 x 14 print but the largest size that this particular print can be created, due to Quality Control,
is 8 x 10. Can't we just push it through; it's not that much bigger?
No, you don't want to try to do that! You see, the resolutions of vintage images may limit the size of certain images in print
development. Trust us; or better put, Trust Shutterfly's technical judgment! If Shutterfly indicates that 8 x 10 is the largest
size for meeting quality standards, it is! Don't despair, though! The 8 x 10 print can still be beautifully matted and framed
within the 11 x 14 or larger format.
- I found a great picture of a farmer with an early and rare threshing machine that would be a wonderful cover for my new book.
If I buy a print, can I just use it this way on my book jacket?
No. To be in compliance with Copyright you will want to complete the form and request
a License for use of image.
Of course, you may also want to buy a print to hang in your den! If so, please proceed through the Gallery to Shutterfly ordering.
But don't stop there. We have many images of Rural American Farm Life that can be found in "The Family" Gallery.
